ALUMINUM WIRING???,
I have no experience using this cooktop. However, I just installed it. (Actually, I installed its sister, but with stainless trim on the sides.)
There are two gigantic issues:
1) Watch the dimensions of the cooktop very closely. I mis-measured my existing cut-out or mis-read the Whirlpool literature and ended up having to cut my Corian countertop (do-able, but very difficult, messy, and time-consuming).
2) THIS COOKTOP HAS ALUMINUM WIRING!!! I find that absolutely astonishing! I’m a real diy-er; I’ve completely re-done the electrical in our house in Houston, TX. However, I have have no experience connecting aluminum to copper. I know it’s messy and easy to screw up. Thus, I get to call an electrician to do this for me. I find it inconceivable that Whirlpool would have aluminum wiring on this unit. I would triple-check before I buy this or any of their other units.
